      Looking to join Sky bb

I am currently with Be unlimited but due to hours being cut at work i am looking to move over to Sky Broadband and take the 10 per month package.

Currently no progress has been made as I am awaiting a response from Be unlimited before I make my decision.

Currently on Be my stats are

      Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 2,355 / 19,773
      Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 13.0 / 17.5
      Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 19.0
      SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 5.0

This is costing me 42 a month but they want 30 to put me down to the lower package but I have told them to waiver this or i want my MAC code.

What are the pings like on Sky for gaming?
What sort of speeds should I expect?
Is Email free on Sky? ( I have to pay 2 on Be Unlimited)
Can I get switched over to fastpath if needed?
Do Sky have a member centre for users?
Has Sky got any better since I last visited in August 06 as I was going to join then?
Is the Migration period painless or should I expect downtime?

      Cheers

I am sure more questions will come to mind later on

I can only answer a few of your questions:

Email is free although some people have great dificulty in setting it up, see the Email Forum for examples of this. I had little problem in getting mine up and running.

Not sure whay tou mean by "member centre" but there is a support line although on an 0870 number (was free but this has been stopped).

You might have some downtime yes because it seems Sky are only sending out the routers (that you have to use) once your line has been activated.

      I average about 45 - 55 on MAX

What sort of speeds should I expect?
At least the same if not better

Is Email free on Sky? ( I have to pay 2 on Be Unlimited)
Yes, a bit hit and miss, however to setup a domain and email costs you about a tenner a year. Well worth it, you could have your own personalised email addy.

Can I get switched over to fastpath if needed?
      Not without a fight

Do Sky have a member centre for users?
      Yes, unofficially its this website

Has Sky got any better since I last visited in August 06 as I was going to join then?
imho Yes, however there sre still problems and not everyone has no hassle coming across.

Is the Migration period painless or should I expect downtime?
Normally yes, unless you go for Connect, where they do not send your router until you are connected.

Yes it should be a seamless transfer with about 1 hour downtime during the night.

I don't want to throw cold water, but if you are coming from LLU, keep your fingers crossed. There seem to be quite a few problems migrating from a LLU, most concern Tiscali, but with Be, you may be OK
