      SlowSlow Speeds.

      got 16Mb broadband yesterday.

using online bandwidth tests, it said i was at 300Kbs, 50Kbs, 150Kbs and 600Kbs throughout the day - p2p downloads seemed to affirm that.

i am 1.7Km away from exchange.

      Any help would be excellent.
If this is in the wrong place, point me to the right one, please.

      Re: SlowSlow Speeds.

I phoned up. She said that it takes three days for the connection to 'settle', i'd be happy enough if it were operating at even 2Mb's, but floating around ~0.5Mbs is quite lame.

      back down to ~250Kbs now.

my psp software, which is - i think - a reasonable guage of what you can operate at, is struggling to break a download speed of 15Kb a second.
Youtube streams for about 3 seconds at a time before needing to load again.

is it as simple as just waiting 3 days, like she said, to get a broadband speed?

      Re: SlowSlow Speeds.

The operator who told you it takes days to settle may be wrong - A settling period is only really on connect.

Also when you say the speed starts dropping, Could you make a log of the noise margins, and wether they drop accordingly, e.g/ Evenings.. or does it wobble/unstably change!

      Re: SlowSlow Speeds.

but surely i should be getting a reasonable speed at some point of the day, even with the wobbles?

as soon as i posted that last post, i looked at my p2p software, i was downloading at 60Kb/s for a couple of minutes, then it quickly went back to 15Kb/s, i'm currently on my NTL connection(which i still have till the network cards we've ordered come through) which is 2Mb and I, more often than not, get up to 200Kb/s downloading speed.

I shall monitor the noise margins though whenever i'm on that p.c.
