Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

I am migrating from F2S to Sky. My activation date was today but I have had no broadband connection all day. Sky support just told me to call back after 3 working days (i.e. Monday).

I just checked the BT order tracking line and found that there was a Provide order placed on 10 March, completed today, AND a Cease order, placed today and completed today.

Does this sound wrong? Having seen some other threads, I am wondering if Sky have ceased ADSL from my line?? (And what to do if they have?)

Can you post the whole of the order, less your personal details?

OK. Please see below. I forgot to say that my Internet light is green on the router (as is the wirless and power light, and the one for the ethernet connection to the PC).

I've found 3 orders actually, as below. In all cases the order description in CHANGE:

      1. Placed and Completed on 22 Feb:

PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
      CEASE (ADSL) BT IPSTREAM HOME 2000 1 0.0 0.0

      2. Placed 10 March, Completed today:

Description Product name Quantity Cost Rental
PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
PROVIDE SMPF TO SMPF MIG. ON TACTICAL 1 0.0 0.0

      3. Placed today, Completed today:

CEASE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
      CEASE CEASE SMPF 1 0.0 0.0

Is BT changing their terminology so would expect to see

      2. Placed 10 March, Completed today:

Description Product name Quantity Cost Rental
PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
PROVIDE SMPF TO SMPF MIG. ON TACTICAL 1 0.0 0.0
Is what should have happened to get you onto Sky

      3. Placed today, Completed today:

CEASE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
      CEASE CEASE SMPF 1 0.0 0.0
Not sure on this one at all - maybe someone else can help

Thanks. I guess I'll have to call them tomorrow and tell them about this Cease order.

Have you tried your Sky router to see what the stats say?

If you can give us those might throw some light

Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

Cheers. I'll print this at work and try it out tomorrow (can't do it tonight as I need to be up early). I'll update this thread tomorrow evening. I still don't understand why my Internet light is green if BT have completed a Cease order. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

Mine was green and had no connection as there is a time delay when they connect you and then disconnect the old ISP

Normally only takes up to an hour of downtime though - good luck

Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

For what it's worth, my router stats are below. But I think the problem could be elsewhere, as I've explained by posting in the sticky thread about lines going dead 3 days after activation. Anyway, thanks newsreader (especially for starting this site):

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 0 0 0 0 0 00:00:00
      LAN 10M/100M 120 142 0 671 259 00:01:11
      WLAN 11M/54M 50 0 0 127 0 00:01:01

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2048 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 22.0 db
Noise Margin 20.7 db 14.0 db
