Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

I moved from ADSL with PlusNet to Sky and had the same orders.

      1. Placed and Completed on 22 Feb:

PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
      CEASE (ADSL) BT IPSTREAM HOME 2000 1 0.0 0.0
I had the same 27th Jan except mine said MAX instead of Home 2000 - this is the move by BT to treat all providers the same as LLU.

      2. Placed 10 March, Completed today:

Description Product name Quantity Cost Rental
PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
PROVIDE SMPF TO SMPF MIG. ON TACTICAL 1 0.0 0.0
I had the same on Feb 27th - my move to Sky.

      3. Placed today, Completed today:

CEASE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 0.0 0.0
      CEASE CEASE SMPF 1 0.0 0.0
I had the same on 1st Mar - I assume it was the cessation of the PlusNet side of things.

I have had no interruption in my service with Sky since I moved on 27th Feb.

Thanks, that's very useful info. I rang BT Wholesale again this morning. Last night the woman told me that my line had been ceased. This morning a BT guy told me that my line is active. At least that's consistent witk Sky telling me that I have been activated since Wednesday evening. So maybe it's the router that's wrong? I'll try to connect my old reliable Linksys router this weekend and see if it works.

Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

I used the other threads here to learn how to get my username and password out of the Sky router, and tried my Linksys router tonight. Still no connection. Rang BT Wholesale again and they say that Sky have my line and it looks normal.

Going to bed. Don't know what to do, except maybe cancel Sky during my cooling off period. If anyone reads this during the night and has any suggestions, please tell me.

Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

I thought I'd update this thread to let you know how this story turned out, in case it helps anyone.

A tier 3 call was raised for me on 22 March. They were supposed to call me back in 5 days but no one ever did. But someone must have done something because about 10 days ago I suddenly managed to connect to a web page. That was the first time ever, since my activation on 21 March.

It was after that I discovered that Sky's router was defective. Every 5 minutes I'd get a message on the PC to say that "a network cable has been unplugged" (it hadn't). I'd lose the internet connection and the lights on the router would go off. Then they'd flicker and come back on and the connection would come back. 5 minutes later, the same would happen again.

So anyway, I switched to my old Linksys router instead, and everything's been fine since. In frustration, I'd already got Sky to give me a MAC. I've called to tell them I'm staying with them after all. Thanks to this site, NewsReader and Asinine Monkey for the instructions on how to get the username/password out of the Sky router.

I suppose I should call Sky and tell them about their defective router. But I just can't face it after the time I already spent with technical support getting nowhere.

I don't suppose you tried a different ethernet cable? or are you using the same one with your other router?

Using the same ethernet cable, the same phone cable and the same PC, so I'm fairly sure it's the router that's dodgy. Also, when I was getting the problems with the Sky router, I tried wireless connection with a laptop and I couldn't get on the web with that either, even though the laptop told me the connection strength was Excellent.

Well if it is the same cables, I would say its the router

Exclamation Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

Hiya greenwich, I did not want to hijack your thread as I got politly pointed out its better to start your own thread but it seems like same thing has happened to me... Except I can login and everything and am happy with speeds but I am only worried that I loose internet cause of the cease order placed....

See my thread and let me know if its same as you...
Order Ceased by Sky... Any answers why???

I have tried my own router as well as one sky gave me and both get me on ok.

But sky cannot tell me whats happening as they did not know I was on with them yet.. Really confusing ..

Re: Cease and Provide today: does this sound right?

The cease order looks the same as mine and apparently that's normal, so if you're connected OK, count your blessings and don't worry.

I've got strange things going on tonight. For the first time in 10 days, I couldn't connect. My Linksys router didn't connect at all (as it was doing for 10 days). Got the Sky router back out of the box and plugged it in. It played its old tricks of going on and off but since about the last 90 minutes, it's been working fine. (UPnP still switched on).

      Totally confused now.
