      Contention Ratio - Information

      From here: http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skyco...ontentid=93610

The contention ratio gives an indication of how network bandwidth is shared between customers. Most consumer broadband services are contended at up to 50:1. Our service performs better with a lower contention ratio of up to 33:1.

I think that means there's only one router for every 33 people they've signed up

      Wink

joking aside, a contention ratio of 33:1 is quite good, seeing as most ISPs use a standard 50:1 ratio.

      I think.

Contention figures are a myth, i remember been on 20:1 with Plusnet, and they quoted that the network speed at Plusnet was 33:1 and they thought that was good.

They mad a great chart made up of pizza to get the message across, ummm wonder if they will let us post it?

      Can only ask i suppose

LOL! I have an image of a crazed GPKing huddled in a corner, glances darting in all directions, while he clings lovingly to his router!
