Sorry my mistake, at the time I didn't know what LLU was and it's only the explanation above that has helped me. I was just quoting what I could find at BT Order Tracking.

Guess that's what's confusing me as I didn't think Tiscali had any equipment at the exchange and I'm sure that the exchange search tool also showed this.
You are correct, Bannockburn has no LLUs at the moment. This means you were on a normal ADSL connection and your MAC should have been usable, provided it was correct and applied properly. Can you remember what it was, if you can post it someone will be able to tell you if it was the correct type. LLU MACs start with a particular sequence of letters. I would not be surprised if this mess can be laid on Tiscali.

Re: They DIDN'T use my MAC code to go from Tiscali LLU to Sky BB ?

After reading all about this LLU and IPStream stuff I couldn't understand why my order with BT showed as "LLU - SHIFT SMPF" when according to a Broadband resource LLU is when the ISP has equipment in an exchange and the only ISP with equipment in my exchange is BT.

Called BT wholesale to ask why this was and get them to check my line again.

Was told that the order had went through but had got "stuck", lady said she has fixed this and it should update at Sky overnight.

Of course I'll still be without a router for xx days but maybe I'm getting somewhere. Fingers crossed.

Why could Sky not call BT Wholesale and ask what the problem was and get this fixed 2 weeks OK. OK I know that's easy they are ejits.

Re: They DIDN'T use my MAC code to go from Tiscali LLU to Sky BB ?

I couldn't understand why my order with BT showed as "LLU - SHIFT SMPF"
I think this is the basis of the problem, SMPF is the system where a line is shared out to an ISP by BT who own all the equipment. It actually means 'Shared Metallic Path Facility'. LLU on the other hand means Local Loop Unbundled, and means the ISP has it's own equipment in the exchange. It looks like Tiscali have supplied a MAC for LLU and Bt have been unable to apply it. It looks like this has been sorted out and hopefully you will be up and running fairly soon.

I think you are right in that Sky does not seem to be able to talk to BT. Whether this is down to Sky's lack of competence or BT treating them like 'the new guy in the class', I don't know. Sky should be out poaching a few top 'heads' from other ISPs and their service could improve overnight.

Re: They DIDN'T use my MAC code to go from Tiscali LLU to Sky BB ?

Well Sky tell me today that my line went active today and a letter to this effect has been sent [read will be sent] in confirmation.

Tried to explain that this was a result of me speaking to BT Wholesale yesterday but gave up. Useless morons.

Of course no chance to get a router to get connected, just the standard "delivery within 5 days response".

Why they couldn't issue a temp. login is beyond me!

I feel your pain - I moved in January and Sky still haven't managed to reconnect my broadband at the new address....it's almost been 10 weeks...I think it's inexcusable for a company as large and as rich as Sky to treat people with such disregard.

      Well what do you know.

After speaking to Sky on Friday, Saturday and today to ask for a Parceline consignment note they told me that they did not have this since Parceline had no collected my router yet.

Then at 14:30 Parceline pull up and deliver my router.

Then at 14:40 the driver comes back and delivers me another router.
