Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, your line is currently unbundled by an LLU operator such as Be, Bulldog or Easynet. Moving to another provider may require a cease and re-provide, which may result in loss of service for a few days.

I don't quite get this as I've never had broadband before - cud this be the cause of my connection still not being active?

What exchange are you on ?

If you have never had adsl it will cause you no problems as it would be a new connection

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Done, it says nothing about ADSL2+, checking the LLU xDSL list says:

The following table details the availability of LLU services at your location.

Be Unlimited should be available in your area from October 31st 2006
Bulldog is available in your area
Carphone Warehouse should be available in your area from August 31st 2006
Easynet is available in your area
Edge is not yet available in your area
Homechoice is not yet available in your area
Node4 is not yet available in your area
Pipex is not yet available in your area
Tiscali is not yet available in your area
Wanadoo is not yet available in your area
Zen is not yet available in your area

      but it does say:
There appears to a compatibility issue with your phone line. This could be caused by an existing DSL connection, ISDN, a DACS unit, TPON, a pending ADSL order or many other common issues. This will need to be resolved before ADSL can be supplied to your line.

Easynet LLU is the backbone that Sky BB ADSL2+ runs on. So you are in an enabled area.

Thats the one you need to be on to get SkyBB thats there LLU

As for compatibility issue thats due to the fact that you already have ADSL on the line.

ah its all starting to make sense now, so:

1: the switching (of my line to easynet LLU) would take place during the 'enabling' period if I signed up to skyBB?

2: the fact my line is NOT currently on the easynet LLU means I cannot have a confirmed 'this is how fast you can get', coz its all theoretical at the mo?

IF you can get your current router stats, in particular your attenuation you can use this:
      http://www.dslzoneuk.net/maxspeed2.php

      To give you a guideline.
