      no adsl ip address cant connect to internet

      Sorry to bother you all but I am after a little help with a netgear DG834GT wireless router in conjunction with sky connect broadband. I am unable to connect to the internet either with ethernet or wireless connections. When I log into the 192.168.0.1 router page I dont have any settings under the adsl port, is anyone able to help with getting my connection back. Any help you can provide would be gratefully received.

      Hi tkdkat and welcome to Skyuser.

      Worry not - the same happened to me a few times recently. In my case, it's a problem with Sky authentication servers (or connection to them). A few cups of tea and reboots later and it was all back working again. Give that a go (including the tea if you so wish) and if it doesn't work we can try a few more invasive things.

      Hi Mossywell,

      I have tried rebooting from the main router page and also the reset button on the router itself quite a few times I have also unplugged everything, taken all the software of and started from scratch but still nothing. Any thing else I can try as I have been trying for eight hours already

      I have had this problem for the last three weeks.
      Only in my case iI can be connected for a hour or so then get disconnected and the only sure fire wa I have found to get a adsl ip address is to make a phone call when rebooting.

      Support is a waste of space I keep getting a nice Indian Lady but I have great difficulty with an Indian accent, this is not helped by the noise on the line.

      Noise problem only apparent when router powered up.
      Have tried several routers, same problem.
      Line checked by BT no problem.
      Tried a number of filters.

      Now got a ticket and awaiting a call back, not holding my breath.

      Oh by the way the 2 0800 numbers i had no longer work.

      Hi,

      I tried rebooting and making a call at the same time (several attempts) No luck, also tried plugging in master bt socket, nothing. I emailed netgear said I had to contact Sky, have also phoned Bt to check my line they have reported all is fine, still waiting for Sky to contact me. Is there anything else I can try ?

      hello newbie here too... I'm having the exact same problem!!! I was on the phone at length to tier 1 last night doing all the "swap the filters" bit etc. got given a tier 2 ticket and was told to call back tonight becuase of a technical fault, got put through to them tonight and the drone on the end of the line says it's because I'm running IE7 and that it can't handle dynamic DNS, does this reek of BS to anyone else? he then put me through to a microsoft helpline that is closed to get back to IE6. to top it all off I get a text form sky saying "welcome to skyBB" are they having a laugh

      it's because I'm running IE7
      What a load of twaddle I have a dual boot machine with Vista on and XP and both have IE7 and works fine with no problem what a fob off.

      this keeps getting better...onto tier 2 again only for the "agent" to inform me that I "HAVE" to do a 48 hour power cycle test, which involves me turning off the router for...guess...48 hours. Has anyone else heard of this? I almost lost the rag with the wee guy as he couldn't tell me why I was doing this.

      my 48 hours is up tonight i'll post to let you know how I get on. On reading another thread here I checked the BT website to check there are no cease LLU tags on the line and there's none noted but there is a unmarked work number with no detail, I hope that's not it.
