      mornig all,
      Mmy router "will be" eventually attached to an extension lead from master socket to the same junction as my sky+ box, but for now I am using the master socket to try and sort this out. If I remove wires 2 and 5 from the master socket will that sort the extension out as well? and I presume that it won't affect my sky+ box connection to sky?

      If you remove wires 2 and 5 it will 'fix' your extension all right, it will not work! These are the only two you must leave for your extension to be live. You can remove any other wires, but make a note of the colours and numbers, so you can replace them when/if required. You should realize though, that running Broadband through an phone extension can cause problems, although it may be OK.

      Hi Joe,

      I have exactly the same problem as you.. I get connected and everything works ok for a while - then all of a sudden I lose my ip address etc - and get an error 300 in the sky test.

      Did you try just leaving cable 2 and 5 connected ? if so did this help ?

      tried it... no joy. I'm waiting for tier 3 to call me back after they liase with BT. It's never actually worked, eg I've never been able to obtain an ip address or view a website, just get a v brief connected status on the router status page.

      I shall add my tuppence worth in.

      Got router on Friday, fired up on Sunday (was away over weekend) and got all green on the front - excellent I thought.... but no

      Log shows

      Sat, 2000-01-01 00:00:27 - Initialize LCP.
      Sat, 2000-01-01 00:00:27 - LCP is allowed to come up.

      and repeats every minute

      everything else is 'working'; line stats are shown (not great, line attenuation is high, but I'll be sorting that later), wireless is all fine... just no IP

      The Sky Test button returns Error 300 (reading elsewhere that means can't get IP address iirc)

      So, call front line support and get told to turn it off for 40 mins..... what's that going to do I ask you!!! Refused to go any further as I was at work and not in front of my router - will being doing as I'm told and going from there when I get home!

      Any advice?

      Anyone got a number where I'll be able to speak to someone in the UK?
