      how can i cancel sky

I am fed up with the drop outs at times the 56k load up times on web pages.
When i phoned sky to change over they said gaming would be no problem i even went to the max.
Its been **** and im so fed up with it now, i have read this site so many times for help and done everything.
Your site is great and all credit to you offering what sky should be doing and not on the phone and at a price on hold.
My son is pleading with me to go back to our old isp and my head is saying the same.
we are not getting the service we were promised or need 8 days is nothing to give it time and im beyond that now.
i want to cancel im not getting what i was told games are rubbish pings are rubbish even from my old 1mb connection.

Have you tried ringing Sky and actually waited like most people have to?

Bulldog, Im exactly the same position as you. I have been connected for 2 weeks now and have had to call support several times, with the promise of call backs fm tier 3, 3 times which never happened. Why do we have to wait for 3-5 days for tech support to call us back. Spending 20-30 mins waiting on the phone only to get cut off is ridiculous (happened twice), they even cut me off when I rqstd a MAC
I have now been informed that a letter will be sent to me fm tier 3 explaining the "tech probs with my line", a letter, for gods sake what are they playing at.
Since moving to SKY Max, I have been put on gdmt not adsl2+, my connection speed has halved and my pings have increased by 65ms, (goodbye to online gaming). Strange how the majority of this occurred after my 8 day cooling off period. Begining to regret leaving ZEN.

      Sorry, mini rant over

Exactly the same here folks. Switched from Pipex....the lady chuckled "you'll be back" when I called to cancel. How right she was! For the first couple of weeks everything was hunky dory...web pages were loading almost instantaneously, xbox360 gaming was just grand (though to be honest it was fine with Pipex previously). Now I just get drop-outs in the connnection all the time and at times dial-up speeds waiting for pages to load.

And all this to save 15.99 a month (26.99 for 2Mb previously with Pipex, a tenner for Sky Max).

My wife is killing me. As a freelance designer she needs to e-mail large files sometimes and is getting cheesed off with the "oh right, there's this button at the back of the router, press that, then close down mail, safari, firefox etc, wait a minute or two then it'll be back up again" conversation.

I'm thinking I can cancel because of Sky's failure to provide what I'm paying for. Surely that puts them in breach of contract this allowing us the plucky little fellas to cancel? Only problem is that I pay the feckers for my tv too...they'll end up switching that off...no Lost, no ER, no OC, no Heroes, no 24....ahhhhhh, oh well, looks like maybe i watch too much tv anyway

I did it. Just ring up and ask for a MAC. They have to give you one. If they say no or try fobbing you off remind them of the new rules that came into force on the 14th Feb.

Once you get the MAC it's quite easy and takes about 10 days to get to your new ISP. I migrated over to BE. Miles better service and a lot faster

Once you have the MAC then you'll have to sort out getting the BB account cancelled. They tried telling me that I was well over my 8 days cooling off period even though they had never connected my broadband so I cancelled the Direct Debit and told them they either cancelled the BB account or they could come and pick up the BB modem and TV box as I was stopping payment for all of it. They soon changed thier mind.

Why would they switch your TV off, unless you stop the direct debit then there shouldn't be any reason why they would do this.
