      MAC Help

      Hi,

I am trying migrate from AOL to Sky Max, AOL have given me a MAC code but each time i try and place an order with sky it gets rejected. I have tried twice now and sky say that the only way i will be able to Sky is if i cancel AOL and have the line cleared and then re-order sky. This isn't an option because i need the connection for work.

Any ideas and what i should do to be able to migrate?

      Thanks

When was the last time you tried to give Sky the MAC?

      Re: MAC Help

I first gave sky the MAC when i ordered on the 27th Feb and a few days later received the letter telling me that the MAC had been rejected. Then gave the MAC to sky again on the 5th March where they confirmed that it had been taken down incorrectly the first time, and then today i phone them to be told that the MAC code not be used and the only thing they could do is cancel the order. I have already received the router.

Is there any way i can check whether or not the MAC code AOL has given is correct and usable?

      Give this department a ring,

Sky had a problem with LLU MAC's and they may be able to help you.

Thanks, I will give them a ring.

My current line is definitely not on LLU though.

Minor and ever so slightly OT point, but when you do get on Sky - eventually - bear in mind that using it for work is against the Ts and Cs.

      Re: MAC Help

Well finally after all this time I have managed to get sky to place a new order for me -- directly with BT this time not through their systems as each time I was ordering through their normal procedure the order just kept disappearing.

The BT order checker says the following:

Description Product name Quantity Cost Rental
      PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 £ 0.0 £ 0.0
      PROVIDE SMPF TO SMPF MIG. ON TACTICAL 1 £ 0.0 £ 0.0

I am migrated from AOL so should there not be a mention of “CEASE” in the order as well?

      Re: MAC Help

Hi don't know about cease maybe someone else can help you with that 1, but if I was you I would call AOHELL and cancel your account when you have migrated. Despite them promising me there was no need to do this as they would automatically cancel the AOL account after I had migrated they didn't. Could save you some problems / money in the long run.

      Re: MAC Help

Sky still does have a problem with LLU macs - Orange (LLU only) for instance cannot be migrated. The other problem we experience is that there is no validation done when MAC codes are entered by sales, so time and time again, we see O's where 0's should be and so on.
