      Re: ADSL2+ or not?

      Welcome to the forum

You are on G.DMT and your speed has been capped at 4000kbps - curiously your upstream has also been capped.

With an attenuation of 51db there would be little benefit in being on ADSL2+. Were you uncapped, with a relatively noise free line you could expect to connect at ~5750kbps.

Sky usually cap and put customers on G.DMT when they see line errors as this tends to reduce them. The stats you posted show that despite this your line is still generating a fairly high level of errors. Uncapped they would increase significantly.

Are you running your router connected via an extension?

      Thanks for your quick reply.

No, my router goes straight into faceplate. I have no extensions. Is it best left the way it is?

      Re: ADSL2+ or not?

Just worth checking: you do mean the test socket? (I got your point about no extensions, but you never know - it's not the presence of a phone on extension, it's the wiring that can cause issues.)

If yes, then I'd personally leave well alone. The 5.7 megs is top rate (as Saturday says, on a pretty much error free line) and to try to achieve that, you have to nag Sky to take off the cap. I'm sure you've read what a PITA that is! Sky rightly don't like doing that because it can add errors which can actually reduce the effective speed leading to irate customers.

      Re: ADSL2+ or not?

Is it ok to leave the router plugged into the engineers test socket ???

My NM ranges from 6 - 10 but can drop to the extent that the connection is lost (although the Mosswell reboots it).

All I have is my router and telephone via a microfilter and maybe if left in the test socket it may cut out the connection losses.
