TP-Link VR900 as wireless router with HG612 as modem

      Hi All,

I've done quite a bit of searching but can't find an exact solution to the setup I'm trying to achieve.

I've got Sky working fine wih just the VR900 as a modem but I also have a BT HG612. I'm wanting to use the HG612 as the modem and have the VR900 just as a wireless router. Why? I'm assuming I might get a slightly better sync speed with the HG612 and most people seem to prefer the separate modem/router setup to a single one.

Problem is I'm unsure how to setup the VR900 as just a wireless router so it connects to Sky. There are no options to enter the Sky username and password, only when it is being used as a modem. As a wireless router the only options are PPPoE or Dynamic or Fixed IP. I've tried to spoof the MAC from my ER115 but from what I've read this wouldn't work anyway and indeed doesn't. There is nowhere to enter the username|password string either so I'm a bit stumped.

Any help would be appreciated, even if it's to say that I'm trying to achieve the impossible! Thanks.

If its a combined unit it may not support router only mode.
Also it would need option 61 box under the wan port config.
You could try dynamic IP but if no option 61 box (might be called additional isp login or something along those lines) then it's not going to work.

Re: TP-Link VR900 as wireless router with HG612 as modem

Unfortunately it only seems to support option 61 when in modem/router mode as the only options I'm given when configuring the WAN for Dynamic IP is to add a MAC address.

      Sounds like a no unfortunately.
