      Sky Fibre and Asus RT-AC88U

      Hi All,

Hopefully a simple question and answer session.

So after a number of years with BT Openreach I decided to take the plunge and join Sky. So far so good. I received the Sky Q Hub the ER115 version. This allows me to get internet OK. My previous set up was a Openreach modem (By ECI Telecom) and an Asus RT-AC88U.

The question is can I utilise that set up to get sky fibre and if so how?

I have tried to establish the unsername and password using wireshark. Thinking it would be a simple change of details and et voila! Nothing no access at all. A little bit more digging would lead me to flashing the router with Merlin. But that is where I get slightly lost as the AC88U is not supported on the Merlin website.

If anyone else has been down this route, your advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance

The ac 88u is supported for merlin. You dont need to extract any username or password.
Setup is straightforward once you have Merlin installed.

If you need help with Merlin config let me know but all you need to do to get option 61 configured is navigate to wan port config and at the bottom line enter

      Anythingyoulike@skydsl|anypasswordyoulike

Specify DNs servers if you wish but that should get you connected using the openreach modem.
