      Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP

As I mentioned in my original post ... my current contract with BT is still running .. it expires in a couple of months. So I'm starting my homework early .. partly prompted by the letter I received from BT asking me to extend my contract with them for 18 months, and the fact that Sky are obviously about to start/have already started rolling out FTTP. I'm in no rush currently .. I partly mentioned it here because, quite honestly, I was surprised it wasn't already mentioned by others. Is this site no longer maintained as much as it used to be?

The site is still alive and kicking but a few members who used it as a social site have been very quiet of late removing a lot of the vibrancy and vitality it once had. At first I thought that it was an improvement but those who visited as much for an amusing anecdote as to pick up, or share, some useful information on Sky are staying away and the site is suffering as a consequence.

Sky's Ultrafast options are available if you can get G.Fast and should be rolling out to FTTP areas later on this year or early next year. Hopefully the SOGEA (data only) option will also become available as well. I believe Sky are still testing their VoIP service which will be offered with the FTTP and SOGEA packages.

Ah right .. so potentially then, I'll not be getting offered Ultrafast for FTTP this year by Sky. What's G.Fast? Is that similar stuff but not by BT?

@simon194 Are available or will be available? G.Fast is available to me (I could order from BT today), but Sky Ultrafast is not offered when I check (only “ordinary” and Superfast).

      Re: Sky Ultrafast FTTP

G.fast is still over copper between you and the pcp. Only those very close to the pcp can get it. Very few can get the top speed of 300 because it's still going over copper to the end user so therefore there are many factors that can change your speed etc...
