      Unhappy Swann CCTV Nightmare

      Hi,

A little under two years ago i bought a 4 channel Swann CCTV kit. I installed it and with some messing around was able to configure it so we could view it on the Swann app on ours phones using 4G.

In the past 2 years its cut out a few times but i have managed to get it up and running on my home network again but this time i am struggling.

I am trying to open the ports for the client & HTTP ports on the DVR but the ports will not open!

I am completely lost on what to do! Does any one have any experience with Swann DVR's and sky fibre?

      Thanks

Sounds like you need to open or even port forward on the sky router if its even possible?. I use port forwarding on my opnsense box but don't use any sky supplied routers..

      Hi, Thanks for your reply,

I need to open ports 85 & 9000. So i create the service with those ports and the ip address of my DVR. I add them to the inbound and outbound rule. I then go on to test the ports but they remain closed?

      Re: Swann CCTV Nightmare

Only thing I can suggest is to re do the rules/ports etc and double check its correct. If it still fails after that then try another router setup perhaps. Assume you need dynamic dns too if not on static IP..

Here are some attachments. The IP in the firewall rule is the IP of the DVR which is run through a TP Link hardwire link. IP on the DVR is set to static!

      Re: Swann CCTV Nightmare

Guess it looks right. I spose if it was me I would be trying a different router in case this is the sky router. I did read other posts on other forums with users having issues with port forwarding via a sky router where it wasn't working.

One option that seemed to work was to put the CCTV system in the DMZ. Not ideal but it seemed to work according to the op and as a last resort.
