      Netgear D7800 Nighthawk with SkyFibre

I'm trying to switch over to my new router the Netgear D7800 Nighthawk to use with Sky Fibre. I know this is against Sky's T&C's but there doesn't seem to be any real enforcement so I'm not too concerned.

Does anyone know if this router will work with Sky Fibre out of the box, or will new firmware need to be installed? Also I'm away of using Wireshark to get the username and password, however is there any alternative method for retrieving this information? I've seen password calculator websites, does anyone know if these work?

Lastly, does anyone know where I can find the correct configuration for the nighthawk router?

      Thanks.

It has a modem, therefore it should work out of the box using the wizard and selecting Sky. You don't need to extract anything anymore, just so long as you put something in the option61 string, so using the following will work:

123456789abcd@skydsl.com|12345678abc or any other string you fancy.

Pooh! Wish I had read this thread earlier! Just spent hours/days trying to get UN/PW from Wireshark/Calculators/SkyCred with different strings coming out each time!! What's the rationale for (effectively) removing the need for individual 'logons'?

      Netgear D7800 due any day!

I suspect because sky know which ports are connected their BNG's so there is no need for a specific per client logon, but option61 is left there as thats the way thier dhcp works and it would be harder to remove as thats how all the routers are set up to work. That's my guess, but Det would know the truth of it, if he reads this message he may even tell us.

      Hi

I hope you can help with my issue.
Up until last night, apart from an issue with the QofS on the router, I've had no issues.
Last night i rebooted the D7800 router as you normally would. But this time, it defaulted back to the original Neatgear SSID and passwords, stripping all my SKY details from its memory.
I thought that i could simply preform a factory reset, and on boot-up, type in my option 61 details.
      But this does-int work.
Router just keeps going round and round, flashes white then red on the connecting light.

      Any thoughts??

      Alona
