No WiFi dropouts following a call to Sky. Coincidence ?

      Hi all
All over last weekend we were suffering terrible trouble with our WiFi coverage from the SR102, various laptops and phones would have no connection or very slow speeds, whilts my desktop, hardwired to the router was fine.
I called Sky Sunday evening and eventually told the expert about the situation and that the line was synched ok 39998/9999 and that the router was on a high shelf on it own, that it had been rebooted a couple of times and I had changed the channel from 6 to 8 to 11 and then to 3 that made no difference.
OK he said give me 10 mins to run some tests and I will ring you back.
OK I thought, sounds like a fob off, but what can I do.
Well about 20 mins later everyones WiFi was back to normal, albeit slow, but no dropouts and now still working fine.
So is this coincidence, or can they do something remotely to influence individuals WiFi coverage / connection?
By the way he never rang back .
      Regards

Coincidence I would say. There is nothing they can do over the phone or remotely* to influence your wifi, except advise you to change the channel. If you have not already tried it, try channel 13. This is little used by routers, especially those on an auto setting. The SR101/2 routers have very poor wifi compared with modern standards.

*Assuming you have not allowed Remote Management of the router. Even then they can only change the channel.

      Hi
Thanks for the reply Isitme, I thought that was the case. I thought I read that they could reset my profile, I don t know if that would make any difference the router certainly did nt reboot though. Regards

They can reset the line profile, but that has nothing to do with the router.

      As above, total coincidence.
