      Your local ping is good.

We have ruled out wireless issues by disabling it and even enabled an OOKLA test still shows it to be slow.

One more test just to rule out a routing issue, or rule it in. From a command prompt, type this:

tracert Google and pin the results back here.

For some reason the board has decided to replace the full address with just 'Google', put the full web address of google uk in there.

      Should look like this:

      'tracert www.google.co.uk'

Shouldn't a ping from pc to router be nearer 0.1 or 0.2ms over ethernet?

A whole 2 or 3ms would normally have me thinking it was wireless (or a dodgy cable).

Not really, mine is around 3ms, then again that's via powerline. If I ping my server which is on the same switch I get less than 1ms, I don't know how responsive an SR101 is.

I was looking to see if there was a massive ping time on the LAN side of the router, but 3mS although not the fastest is not extreme at this juncture.

Anway... I have to go and do some work now... sad but that's the world we live in

To double-check the LAN side is ok you can do a ping direct from the router.

Log in & go to the diagnostics page.
In the 4 boxes next to IPV4 address type 64, 233, 166, 94 then click ping.
Result should be around 27ms as per your traceroute.

Re: Wired connection - Slower than expected.

Which proves the lan side is OK.

One last thing if you have not already called Sky, Do you know what your WAN default gateway is, you should be able to find that on the router stats pages somewhere.

Ping that, it should be very quick.

I get a ping time of around 7ms from my PC and 3.9s from my router.

      You lucky person.
Mine is set-up to not respond to icmp requests.

Or rather, i have learned from this forum that they're probably just considered low priority & an attempt during the early hours may provoke a response.

There should be no response if you ping my system from the WAN, but there is from the LAN side obviously.

What I was trying to rule out, or rule in, was some sort of deficiency in the router causing the issue, which I think we have done. I would liked to have spent a bit more time looking at the tracert stats but work has been crazy today so not had time. A quick glance though looked like somethings not kosha in the routing...

Just noticed I managed to type 3.9s from my router to the gateway....hmmm... That should read 3.9ms of course.
