Are static IPs linked to your MAC address?

      Hi all

I'm interested in getting a static IP for my Fibre Pro connection. However, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the static IP address is assigned based on the WAN MAC of your Sky Hub. I'm using an Airport Extreme connected to the BTO modem, and it seems it isn't possible to change the WAN adapter's MAC on the AE.

The thing is, I've done some searching and I now can't find the thing saying the static IP is linked to your Sky Hub's MAC. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I believe that they are set for your line and only your line.

Should a Sky Hub become faulty, I suspect that the customer would be upset if they suddenly had a new IP Address with the replacement.

      Thanks Scubbie

I just got my static IP and it's working fine with my Airport Extreme!

For some reason the web interface for requesting a static IP didn't work, but I used the live chat and it worked no problem.
