Faulty SR102 and replace with one from ebay.

      HI

last night lightning hit house 100y away but blow up my modem. Replace mater socket and filter. SR102 just got power but no happy face and status disconnected. Rang sky 8am this morning they run test and its dead. Need to wait up to 72h to response now. I could see plenty boxes like mine. I got Sky Fibre. I could buy one BNIB for 10-20 and up and running. Rang sky again 12pm and ask if i could replace with sr102 from ebay and clever lady on phone said it wouldn't work while they got MAC addresses in system of box to each line. Could someone confirm that or if somebody replace sr102 for another sr102 without changing any flash or user/pass things.

phone line works. I know it could be fault in exchange but take a risk for 20 if its possible to replace box from ebay. Cant wait till monday

      thanks

There are a great many who have bought routers from eBay and had no problem. The connection details are contained in the router and any Sky router will connect to any Sky line. There is an outside chance that the routers details could be banned, but this is very slim.
