      Re: waiting for engineer

Same as anything else normally though.

I had to wait in for 5 hours for my STB to be installed last Friday.

It will be worth the wait though.

But don't you think that they could possibly like give you a sort of appointment time?

They should do, but in all reality, its highly unlikely they would keep to it, and then lead to a disappointed customer. I agree 5 hours is a long time, but BT are very busy anyway, judging by the install dates that are set.

      Re: waiting for engineer

Better than British Gas, had an appointment with them to service my boiler a few weeks ago. The appointment was between 9am and 6pm. He didn't turn up then after rebooking for a few weeks later again had to wait in all day and he finally came and 7.30pm!!!!

So 5 hours for BT is nothing IMO

That is one of the reasons they can't give a definite time, it could take anything from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Depending on the installations before yours, the engineer could be there at the beginning of the booked period, or at the end.

When I switched to PlusNet they gave me an appointment time of between 1pm and 6pm! Sky are probably paying BTO less on the basis that the engineer can fit the job in to suit himself!

Between 1 and 6pm, isn't that 5 hours, which would suggest Plusnet are doing the same?

I think it is a standard time for BTO, no matter who books them.
