Would you be able to share the settings you used please? Trying something similar but not having any joy.

Well after my Billion 7800DX decided to pack up I replaced it with the new Billion 8900AX all in one. Works a treat with Sky Fibre. Steady as a rock for over a week now.

Re: Known Working Third Party Routers With Sky Fibre

Just wanted to say a big thanks to this thread for helping fix my home router issues. The SR102 was just not up to the job of dealing with over 20 concurrent device connections and 4 or more HD streams running at the same time. My Siemens IP phone was also having all kinds of router related issues.

Based on the recommendations here, I grabbed my login details with wireshark and picked up a Netgear D7000. Setup was guided and painless (changed the ssid and psk to match the old sky ones).

Family are now much happier with connections and IP phone is working well, result all round.

The Netgear Nighthawk D7800 seems to connect to Sky fibre fine.

that sounds great, I got a 8800axl yesterday and managed to connect it to Sky fibre unlimited Pro easy enough with my extracted username/password

but it drops out continuously every 5 minutes or so and reconnects again about 5 minutes later

any idea why this might be?

if it has adjustable timeout settings for the wan connection, try reducing them.

Re: Known Working Third Party Routers With Sky Fibre

I tried running it through a bt open reach modem that I have, and it works now - no drop outs at all

i guess I'll have to give up on having the 8800axl as a stand alone unit as I just can't get it working in its own without it losing connection intermittently

Re: Known Working Third Party Routers With Sky Fibre

Looking for some advice on hardware setup... Have read through the thread and recently tried a Netgear R7000 - never had a router that was so slow and a nightmare to configure (kept going to the genie wizard and went into a loop as it was sitting behind my Sky Q Hub). I'm looking to replace the Sky setup as I don't use the so-called Sky mesh with the hub and want a router that has Hairpin NAT (joys of trying to get Sonos and Plex to work together in beta) as well as be able to configure my own DNS provider. I turned the DHCP and WiFI off on the Q Hub and it worked, but took about 10 seconds to load each page and some devices just didn't like the router.

I've been looking at the D7000 - but assuming that's an R7000 with a VDSL2 modem built-in, which doesn't enthral me. I've been looking at picking up an Openreach modem (New 2016 Bt openreach modem ECI. FTTC VDSL MODEM FIBRE OPTIC, ROUTER | eBay) and wondering what you guys recommend as the best router to sit behind it. I can see a few guys mentioning pfSense but I honestly don't have enough of a clue to configure something like that. I'm Mac based so have also heard Asus can be irksome to flash firmware on via Safari/Chrome/Firefox on Mac.

I know I want my cake and eat it, but if anyone can recommend a solid setup - WiFi isn't too important to me, I have three AEBS around my house providing WiFi - I'll likely turn it off on the router.

      Thanks!

Re: Known Working Third Party Routers With Sky Fibre

I had this exact same problem. I then tried using it via an old but openreach modem and it works perfectly now

i have no idea why it wouldn't hold the connection solidly and Billion advised me to change the firmware from 2.32e to 2.32d but I haven't tried that as it's working well as it is and I don't really mind having the modem on as well
