Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance
I sent them this email yesterday
Hi Team
Thank you got your router today and installed. i have installed it with all the network cables to the tp-link but am stuck as where to connect the wireless to, at the moment i have the wireless devices connected to the virgin super hub, is that right or should it be connected to the tp-link as well. If so how.
With thanks
and they replied with this
Yes, please continue to connect wirelessly to the superhub.
The device cannot actually be connected to wirelessly, it merely operates to test your linespeed.
Many Thanks,
Conor

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance
That's how the Samknows one works, but I don't know about yours. It possibly checks the speed you are downloading at, I don't really know. Once set up, the Samknows checker works away unobtrusively, you forget it is there till you get the monthly report.i thought it was to do it's own tests and report back?

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance
I box is doing all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff ive sent them a video of it. The QSS light is flashing red and green all the time and the box keeps flashing the 1-4 lights.
They can have it back - keep their £25 not interested in this anymore.

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance
Something is also wrong with mine, it's running it's test while i'm using the connection - i downloaded some films via anytime+ today (connected into the test router as it says) it runs its test every at half past every hour with no exception so either their information is wrong or the software is.
Seems a few people on thinkbroadband are not getting replies to emails either, they've decided to unplug it until ICM can be bothered to reply, and unfortunately I'm gonna do the same

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance
Same here. Mines in the box because my neighbour has decided he no longer wants his virmin medium service so has cancelled it.
Also looking on the TBB forums does this thing really chew up 2GB a day?
But I did not that the QSS light was flashing twice as fast as normal last night. And it was testing for an hour solidly.
I don't trust it. as everythings going through it AND we can't see what software it has who's to say it's not recording eveything we do? A software based VPN wouldn't even touch it.
If only he had done this a few days earlier I would have refused the delivery of it - now I got to send it back lol

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance
I've signed up for this, and they don't respond to emails unless you chase them up
I got the following response after asking whether it is possible to see the results of the tests.
"Hi David,
Apologies for the late reply!
We shall be sending out a newsletter email shortly in which we will share your broadband speed with you.
Many Thanks for getting set up,
Conor"
I thought it would be like the SamKnows one where you can check the results on line, I'm a bit disappointed that you can't do this.
I think the reason for the slow response from them is that the tester seems to be from a company called Epitiro, I've noticed the Email address on the leaflet was different from the ICM research one, seems to be a newvistalive.com address.
Mine also seems to be testing my connection while I'm using it.

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance
ICM Research is a marketing company, the type that make annoying calls asking your opinion on various subjects and at the same time gathering personal information from you. They are not an internet company like Samknows, who have years of experience running these type of tests. I would think twice before allowing them access to my network, who knows what extra information they are gathering under the guise of speed tests. Google Street View?
