Its like counting down sleeps before christmas, whilst my broadband connection is the most stable I have ever had in this house... the need for some speed and sky fibre is making me all excited Yeah I would love 40/10 or even 80/20 tomorrow but I wanna win the lotto too... and the chances of that are slim too so I will go for what ever I can!

I'm guessing that dual band wireless is probably expecting too much?

      lol - That's quiet

I ran a test the other week on my other laptop and left inSSIDer on all day. Normally I will easily pick up over 40 routers. It eventually picked up over 60 WiFi router signals.

Getting back to what could be the next router from Sky, there are a number of different stories going around with different specs. I would love the next router to support the 5GHz channels, 300mb WiFi connections and a 1Gbit LAN. Whether it will is a different story.

It would also be really good if they wouldn't lock it down so much. With FTTC speeds approaching 100mb/s and FTTP in the pipeline, it really seems daft for Sky to prevent people from working from home by blocking many common VPN sites, for example. There are many incentives for companies to encourage some people to work from home and many are doing this.

There are many things that are becoming the 'norm' for the home environment that a few years ago would have been considered only suitable for a business. It seems pointless to continue to block these legitimate services IMHO.
