      Re: Poll: Your sky experience

Been with Sky Broadband when I lived at home with my Dad in 2008. Had 10Mbit to start with, but then found this forum and they told me that extensions can be bad news. Got mine taken off, phoned Sky - up to 16Mbit with a bit of tweaking.

I moved in with my now wife back in 2009 and she had BT Broadband. Speed was 8Mb and fine, got moved to Sky in July 2011 after speed dropped to 3Mb and BT refused to do anything about it. "That is how fast your line will go sir". Got my wife to agree to Sky Broadband, low and behold, 16Mbit sync rates!!

December 2011 our Exchange went live with FTTC, and in March of this year I spotted BT putting a shiny new FTTC cabinet down the road. Went live on March 14th.

Ordered Sky fibre in April and got 40Mbit. Very happy. Sky Fibre Pro released on June 7th and I subsequently ordered it. Line has settled at around 65000 so I'm getting very decent speeds indeed.

      Can't be happier!

Can't vote unfortunately as there is no option available to match my horrendous experience. I filled in a questionnaire after connection asking to score Sky on their performance. All I could do was give the lowest score on the form. It didn't go low enough to accurately describe my experience.

Avoid Sky Connect! It's mega atrocious... I'm assuming LLU enables SKY to avoid going through BT's network to connect you to their Easynet network. Dislike how they advertise Connect because it's not fit for purpose.

FYI Connect is so bad due to Sky being an LLU provider.
If they used BT Wholesale as service provider then they would have a better service in the current non-LLU exchanges.
BT Wholesale only sells them the crap product as a kind-of punishment for not using them in the other exchanges.
See Orange (and now EE), who used to be an LLU provider but decided it was cheaper and easier to just buy the whole service from BT.

I don't think we've ever had any problems with Sky Broadband we did with the first Sky Netgear router but after the router upgrade to the SR102 we've hadn't had a problem, though I wish we had Sky Fibre available for our area and location.....

all isps use tie pairs as these are used to connect telephone line and broadband from bt equipment to isp equipment
