      Vodafone scrapping line rental

      This looks interesting.

Vodafone 'removes' broadband line rental charges - BBC News. 25 for equivalent of Fibre unlimited and 28 for the equivalent of fibre pro with no line rental fees. Certainly means I'm going to be having an fun conversation with Sky when my contract is up next month.

21 all in with SSE inc 24/7 calls.

      So it's not the cheapest.

I cannot recommend Vodafone broadband. The router is as bad as their customer service, the billing is incompetent, and I have dropped from a 40 to a 30 connection speed since switching from Sky Fibre to Vodafones estimated 57 product.
      15 months to go..................

Are you still within their initial estimate 146Kg? If not, you have every right to complain and politely demand a resolution.

      Re: Vodafone scrapping line rental

I have "mentioned" it along with all the other issues, and they have done me an excellent price as compensation and so I'll live with it for the duration of the contract. They say the line won't support more than 40 verbally but their (and B.T.s) checker still estimates mid 50s.
To be honest if I couldn't see the drop in the stats, in the real world you wouldn't notice it.

It really depends on what you do with your connection.

At the present time my own has dropped from the full 80/20 I had when I first has SFUP. It's currently around 71mb. That's more than a 10% drop.

However in my case currently I'm not hammering the download so it's not such an issue. If I were hammering it on a regular basis then I would.

      Re: Vodafone scrapping line rental

It could be annoying if you let it get to you, but the ping time and upload speed is the same as it was on Sky, maybe that is why apart from stats/tests there is no noticable difference in use.
And as you are now *only* getting 71 don't expect much sympathy from the majority of users

It really depends what you are doing though. If you're someone who want to constantly download large amounts of data or have multiple people using it, then you would like as much as possible.

      Damn! No sympathy

lol - I just use my own figures as an example. When I first ordered SFUP I was advised that the speeds would be around 64mb down. So I've always been happy with the higher connection speed. Through what I've read on here I've always expected the connection speed to drop, so I can't argue with it when it happened.

Even worse, port 443 is open for all to have a go at, maybe no line rental but the grass is not always greener.
