Sky will be losing a FTTC customer

My exchange is being upgraded to Fibre, some cabinets are already live, alas mine isn't as yet. However I will NOT be going with Sky. The requirement to take Sky Talk is a step too far. I currently pay more for ADSL2 because my phone line isn't with Sky. My TV package will increase by whatever it is, and I'm paying for all the tv channels and HD.

If Sky don't want to give me Fibre without having my phone line then fair enough, I might as well try FreeSat and save a lot of money.

The price of your TV package does not depend on whether or not you take Sky Talk.

I appreciate that. My point is I already pay a great deal to Sky. Yet I can't get FTTC without transfering my phone line to Sky. Yet I can have unlimited ADSL.

That is true. Sky make transferring your phone line to Sky part of the conditions for having their fibre service. Have you checked with any provider other than your current telephone provider to see if they also stipulate this as a condition of taking their FTTC service?

Re: Sky will be losing a FTTC customer

My line is currently with BT so I would go with them. Sky are quite happy to let me have unlimited ADSL2 without my phone line, although it costs more, so why not the same arrangement for fibre.

I'm pretty sure new adsl customers have to switch their line too now. It's business and designed to increase revenue. You'll find most do the same now for new customers to a product.

Yep that seems to be the case. Well if Sky are willing to lose 100 per month so be it.

No issue. I just don't want it. I'm happy with a BT landline. I can move broadband easier with a BT Line.

I think all the main broadband Providers require you to take their phone package now.
