Bye bye Sky just bought fibre for 26 per month :-)

Hi after spending ages on the phone to Sky retentions twice I have regretfully had to leave SKY. I was initially offered Fibre unlimited for 37pm including line rental and calls. I considered this for a while and then decided to go ahead and cancel, on the next call I was then offered it for 25 per month which I accepted but sadly the operator realised she had made a mistake and couldn't give me it at that price without TV. I then visited Plusnet where I found I could get a fibre 76mb line with a massive 250gb daytime allowance (unlimited at night) for 19.99 + 9.49 line rental including evening & weekend calls. Getting 38 cash back from Quidco was a bit of a bonus too. So in total this works out at 26.31 a month... I think that's a good deal. Why are sky so expensive? If I could have stayed with sky at anywhere near this price I would have, but I'm not about to go throwing money either so Goodbye all!!

PS sorry that this is my first post in this forum, I have only finally registered today after a few years of lurking. The forum has been most helpful in the past with information on port forwarding etc so Thanks.

I have spent a few hours reading up on the Plusnet forums & they seem a happy bunch! I was happy with BT before I moved to SKY and I don't see how I could ever go over their 259GB allowance especially as Its also unlimited at night. I do admit though that it is always a bit worrying moving to another company when you are happy with your current provider. Fingers crossed :-)

I think your 19.99 is just for the first 3 months, its 26.49 a month thereafter. The 9.49 phone rental is for 12 months in advance, Sky cost is about the same. Good luck with your new ISP, Plusnet came out quite well in the most recent PCPro review.

Joining a forum just to say goodbye seems a bit strange.

This makes the move a bit less worrying, 4 wins for Plusnet in the uswitch broadband awards 2012 !!

Having been with Plusnet, I wish you all the best, good luck, but I would never ever go back to them.

I can confirm 100% definite that 19.99 is for the duration. I agree it was a bit odd making my first post when I'm leaving lol I suppose its because I'm a bit miffed at Sky for not making me a better offer :-)

Is this based on a recent problem or several years ago?

Many years ago, no idea how they perform now. No desire to find out either.

Plusnet have been owned by BT since 2007 but, operates as separate company.

I know of couple of people that are with them and they have had no problems with them so far.

Just re read this thread and I realise I'm looking a bit like a winger (ok I am a bit of a winger lol) Hopefully everything goes ok with the move, on a more positive note Sky offered me a good deal if I kept my TV subscription so its always worth giving them a call!
