Re: Sorry but I don't get it...
Most likely reasons for the cap:
1. Distance from the exchange
2. Poor internal wiring.
3. Poor outside line that has deteriorated over time.

Re: Sorry but I don't get it...
With your attenuation you should be getting around 8-10Mb
There is room for improvement as it currently stands.
How is your current setup?
Is it master soctet> microfilter > sky supplied ADSL cable > router?
Do you have a test socket?Links Router Stats Useful Tutorials Speed Test Check For Test Socket Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise

Re: Sorry but I don't get it...
master socket has THREE leads from it:-
1) a microfilter going to a telephone
2) long telephone extension cable going upstairs and then this has a microfilter going to the router via sky ADSL cable
3) telephone cable going to sky box; this might not have a microfilter (have to dig behind tv to check)
Yes, I do have a test socket
Thanks again.

Re: Sorry but I don't get it...
Can you remove the extension and bring the router downstairs and connect it with the Sky supplied ADSL cable?
Extensions should never be used to connect the router.
After removing the extension can you ensure that only the phone and broadband are connected to the master socket. Disconnect the Sky TV for now.
Once that has been done can you repost your stats.Links Router Stats Useful Tutorials Speed Test Check For Test Socket Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise
