broadband upgrade

i received a letter today from sky saying that they were moving me from the 8mb (£5 a month) to the 20mb unlimited
. very kind of them i thought. until i saw that they were charging me an extra £5 a month for the privilege
it said this was because i had gone over my allowance twice in 6 months
can they do this ?
i have not received any previous letters telling me that i had gone over.
i am getting around 7mb on my existing connection so im not going to get any faster with 20mb apart from the unlimited downloads

Re: broadband upgrade

if you have gone over and not realised then yea but if they havent sent you letters then ring them up and tell them because this sounds dodgy to me they shouldnt be moving customers to different packages if the customer is happy with the current one

Re: broadband upgrade

It's in the T+Cs you agreed to when you signed up.

Of course we all read every word of the pages and pages of micro-print before we click the 'agree' at the bottom of every bit of software we use don't we.

I too used more than my 10Gb/month (that's why I initially signed onto what I though was a CONTRACT for 40Gb/month) so I took up Sky's offer of Unlimited free for 6 months as they would have put me on it soon anyway.

TBH the bandwidth/usage meter has been on Sky's site for a while now and there have been loads of posts about it too.

Sky were a bit sneaky putting the info out as junk mail with the Sky mag but I suppose they did give us a chance to jump before we were pushed.
