sky i love you, NOT

ok. to all the guys that remember my crazy ramblings abouth the shambles of a broadband service sky have provided me, i thought id update you on the latest saga!!
last week i asked for my mac code, (still waiting) and changed my phone supplier back to bt, which happens monday.

amongst other reasons, the main reason for me to cancel BB was due to the pathetically slow speed i was getting for sky max, sometimes lucky to get 2meg...
now my last supplier, o2, gave me 16 meg up untill i changed to sky 3 months ago, so obviously there is no reason in the world sky cant provide this.
when i spoke to cancellations, they asked why i was leaving.
I explained about the dozen or more unanswed complaints about my BB service, I also told them that sky telling me my line was only capable of 4 - 5 meg was rubbish to.. (a certain someone said the same here mind you)
yesterday, i received a letter from sky telling me they were sorry about my BB speed issue, and that it should now be fixed!!
do they think that after i have arranged a new isp, that i will suddenly say, oh, skys great im gunna stay as a customer, just because they sort out the issue now?
they should have repaired the issue in january when it was reported first... not after I cancel service due to breach of contract!!- or is it because i reported them to ofcom?
either way im rejoining o2, and sky WILL give me the mac code!!!

il post my new stats...

Modem
ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023o.d20h
Modem Status Up
DownStream Connection Speed 13386
UpStream Connection Speed 765
VPI 0
VCI 38

Wireless Port
Name (SSID)
Region Europe
Current Channel 1
Wireless AP enable

still not the full 16meg that sky advertise availabe (upto)
but its getting there.. maybe by the time i switch to o2 they`ll have it right lol

bye!

and yeah, leaving your IP on show isn't the best idea you've had...and without your SNR we can't say whether you're at the max for your line or not...

ahh, but in one of my other posts you did...
you personally, so stop being so defensive!!

I do beleive you actually posted that my line was able to take a max of 6meg, and that i couldnt have got 16meg from my previous supplier...
maybe all that script reading from sky has made you think that everybody is some kind of idiot!!!

System Up Time: 17:59:16

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 1259 1629 0 0 0 0:02:27
LAN 15 0 0 0 0 17:59:16
WLAN 27025 21710 0 210 313 17:58:49

Connection Speed 15616 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 30.5 db 14.6 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 10.5 db

just taken these, better results again....

makes me wonder why sky slowed my line so much in the first place?
do they profit from slowing a connection?
im not sure if they do, just thinking aloud

Re: sky i love you, NOT

There was simply a problem that has taken time to resolve.

Granted they seem to have taken too long to resolve and you have been messed around, but none the less they have solved it.

A lot of the time it is the end users set up that causes the problem, just search the years of threads on here where problems have been fixed with our help without the need for Sky to be involved.

Anyway, glad Sky have now sorted your problem. Good luck with the MAC code as unless sky have agreed to allow you to exit your contract, you have no right to quit it (and I can't see where Sky have breached the T&Cs from what you'v posted).

Keep us updated with how it goes.

What? I'm sure i told you in another thread about BOC. You have to have NO broadband for up to a month before you can claim a Breach. The fact they did nothing about it is irrelevant. It's a monopoly of business. They're perfectly within their rights to cap your speed as it seemed they had. Possibly due to a line fault that was automatically picked up on by the systems. Not sure how Sky work with this BUT my previous ISP made you pay off the remainder of the contract if you even considered leaving.

And considering your new speeds. The chances of Sky allowing you to leave. Are... Errrm. Slim to say the least.

no thats not quite true with regards to breach of contract.
sky agree to provide a service in exchange for money.
yes, sky were providing a service, but it was highly limited, and by no means close to what they advertised.
not providing the service advertised and agreed is breach of contract.
ofcom agree, and have contacted sky on my behalf.

i checked my email and guess what, i have email from sky containing my mac code!!

Re: sky i love you, NOT

Are you actually going to O2 or not now that Sky have sorted it out for you?

Either way - Good luck.
