price increase

Hello

sorry if it has been posted already but i have gotten a letter in stating that from March 1st 2009 Sky are upping the charge for all it's BB products by 5 pounds.

if you have Sky Talk then this is moved to march 2010.

i don't mind price increases as i know they need to make money but seeing as i have Sky Talk/BB/HD/Phone i do think it's a **** take. it's worse if you havn't got Sky Talk (only got it cos it was a free offer and it saved me a few quid from BT)

Re: price increase

If you have Sky Talk already then you will not see any increase until 2010.

Re: price increase

What the letter really means is..

.... However in view of your loyalty you will be rewarded by having your price frozen for 9 months. We will apply the a 50% inflationary rise to your sky Broadband when the economy is deflationary in January 2010, other businesses are giving discounts, many of you are unemployed and interest on your savings accounts will be zero. Aren't we generous ?

Well for me personally I am happy that I am saving the £5 a month, through being a long standing customer. Not everyone has received this discount though, which is still imho unfair.

As for my future broadband supplier, Sky only have my guaranteed custom until January 2010. I will obviously look around nearer that time, and if there is a better offer available, then I am most certainly, not going to remain loyal.

Don't you mean you're happy that you're not being charged an extra £5 a month?

Re: price increase

I am being charged, but then a saving of £5 in the form of a credit applied from what I have heard

Don't make it right for those who are on Base or Mid, without Sky Talk / HD sub or Multiroom though.

Re: price increase

LOL - that's just semantics.

It's amazing how Sky have managed to transform a massive price hike into an apparent discount.

At best they've offered (some) people a deferred price rise.

Re: price increase

I've now had two calls from Sky trying to coerce me into taking Sky talk to avoid the 100% increase in my mid package.
I probably would have taken it had I not recently gone for a 12 month Unlimited evening and weekend contract with BT.
Since I only have one mix and the broadband I'm obviously not counted as a loyal customer.
O2 and freesat are starting to look attractive.
