It's been a pleasure.

Having had Sky BB max for some 17 months now and almost no problems to write about except its somewhat questionable support, I'm almost sad to be leaving them.

Now that O2 BB is available to me I'm taking the plunge and switching.

In conjunction with my O2 mobile account its an attractive package.

Re: It's been a pleasure.

Good luck Simon, o2 are about the only real contender to Sky, and if you have an o2 mobile, the £7.50 offer is a no brainer.

Re: It's been a pleasure.

Just waiting for my mac code to arrive and then I can do the deal.

I'm knocking Sky Tv in the head also in August and going over to Freesat, just bought my Humax HD box in readiness. Very rarely watch anything these days as they are showing far too many repeats to make it value for money IMHO. I was one of Sky's first band of customers from Feb 1989 so I've seen a few changes some good some bad. It'll be intersting to see if they try to offer me a deal.

Re: It's been a pleasure.

Well it went live bang on 1pm and using the O2 Wireless Box II they issued results are slightly better than Sky.

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:1,321 / 11,673

So almost double the upload speed and roughly 1mbps higher on the download speed and I'm only paying £7.50 per month, nice!

I have to say O2 have kept me informed at every stage by email and sms message, even texting me to say I'd been switched and could now connect my O2 router!

Update:

Flashed the old Sky Netgear Router with the latest DGTeam firmware and I'm now synching at..

DownStream Connection Speed 13467 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 1308 kbps

So thats almost increased down speed by almost 2mbps.

Re: It's been a pleasure.

Just wanted to post my experience so far of O2's customer service...

I HONESTLY CAN'T FAULT IT SO FAR!!!!

Having signed up for the 8mb service @ £7.50 I guess I was delighted to have been connected @ 13467/1308 kbps

They even provided me with the settings to use my own router, rather than the O2 router.

Overnight It looks like the 8mbps profile was assigned to my line and I was now connected @ 8187/1308 kbps.

I called O2 Customer Services earlier and asked to upgrade to the up to 16mbps service and not only did they do that in seconds reconnecting @ 13515/1315 but the support agent tweaked my SNR further and low n behold I'm now synched @ 14937/1325 and holding solid.

I have to wonder why could I only get 10.5mbps with Sky, plus why is it such a long winded affair trying to get Sky to do anything? I was on the phone for no more than 3 minutes and in that time I upgraded my package and my line was adjusted twice to peak performance.

I'm roughly 3km from my exchange so I'm absolutely delighted with the result.

A big thumbs up to O2, it's just shame Sky make life so difficult when you call them.

Re: It's been a pleasure.

I pay £10 for my >16mb adsl (was £7.50 for >8mb) and I'm on a Online 25 mobile tariff which is £25 per month.
