      Exchange Only Lines

      For those whose telephone line is connected directly to the exchange who despair of ever getting FTTC this image of Oakham exchange (EMOAKHA) may offer some hope:

      As long as the roof doesn't leak and it is secure I don't suppose it matters that much. Our exchange doesn't look much better from the outside. Don't forget many of these were built post war.

      I think the point was that there were cabinets being fitted right outside the exchange which are possibly picking up the EO lines and pushing them through a cabinet, making FTTC possible where it wasn't before.

      Lots of EO lines in my town here, including mine and I'm about half a mile away from the exchange here. I bet there's almost 500 homes here on EO lines as well so would need several cabs to sort that here.
