      sky broadband & talk question

hello everyone I am new here I need to some advise please my sky broadband and talk are due to go live this Friday 9/8/13 I was with BT for my Phone line and BE* for my internet I cancelled my Be* internet last month and was told it would be shut off on 15th Aug when placing my order for sky broadband and talk I was told by the CS that they don't need to talk to the old ISP as they (sky was taking over the line and it wouldn't matter now I just check my exchange and got the following Compatibility issue found. This could be several things eg. existing ADSL connection, pending ADSL order on line, ISDN, DACS, TPON, LLU, some alarm systems. is this because I have an order on the line or BE* are still on it will this effect my transfer to sky ?

Be Broadband and land lines were sold to Sky earlier this year. There was no need to cancel your contract with Be.

I suspect that the compatibility issue has been caused by this cancellation and is why we generally recommend against cancelling.

It can take 3 weeks for your line to 'clear' from the cancellation and for you to be abe to re-order Sky Broadband. You may need to use a 3G dongle for a little while.

Sorry for breaking this to you like this.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

well when talking to Sky customer service they said they wasn't going to deal with Be* because once they took the line over it wouldn't matter and my BE is due to cut me off on the 15th this month

      Hmmmm... (looking puzzled)

I'm not really sure what has happened then.

For future reference though, when transferring between different broadband providers it is best to not cancel and set up the new provider first.

Once connected, ensure that all the final bills are paid with the original provider and cancel the Direct Debit only when all refunds are resolved. This can take up to ~6 weeks with Sky, but generally the refunds go through with no issues.
