I'd suggest signing up for Dyn-DNS then enabling the feature in the router so update the dyndns address with the new Ip every time you reconnect.

Re: sky hostname for setting up a vpn connection

As Dragon infers, the host name is the IP address of the router. For a consistent connection you need a fixed address, Sky's IP addresses are dynamic and liable to change at any time.

Re: sky hostname for setting up a vpn connection

Hi I used to use a VPN connection on my mac to connect to my office servers in Sydney. Since moving to Sky it will no longer authenticate when I try to log in. Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and how to fix it?

Re: sky hostname for setting up a vpn connection

Step #1 Buy a VPN. VPN are fairly priced these days i buy mine from a French company @ 1.50 Euro per month. It adds 1ms Latency to my connection only.
Step #2 Open 'Network and Sharing' and select 'Set Up a New Connection or Network', Select 'Connect to a Work Place'
Step #3 Enter your Details and connect to the VPN.

I was just browsing Sorry for posting on an old thread.
