You'll still be connected to the BT Exchange, but inside the exchange you'll be connected to Sky's LLU equipment and from their their backhaul. So your connection speed will substantially increase, you will no longer be subject to a 40GB monthly limit, peak time slow downs and it will be cheaper too.

I suspect you will be a very happy bunny, just in time for Easter too.

Erm well, yes, You've been told twice that you should get between 16-24mbps!

      You'll also be saving 10 a month.

Change over day today, still on the same speeds through the router. Rang Sky, apprently it can take 10 days for the speed to increase?

I am afraid that is incorrect. Internal wiring has an effect on ADSL1 (ADSL Max) connections. By improving internal wiring, some ADSL1 users' speeds have increased by up to 3Mb!

      ADSL1 is not ADSL Max.

      ADSL1 = ADSL = up to 8mb

      ADSL Max = ADSL2 = up to 12mb

Since ADSL1 uses a smaller signal bandwidth, it is more tolerant to wiring issues. If you are close to the exchange then you won't get a faster connection than 8mb, so an internal extension, for example, isn't going to make much difference.

Scubbie, I am afraid that you are wrong. ADSL Max is ADSL1 and it is up to 8Mb, it is just BT's name for ADSL1. ADSL2 is up to 12Mb and ADSL2+ is up to 20Mb.

Please have a look at this if you still don't believe me.

In addition, this is taken from Skyuser:

ADSL1 was the original and in the UK was launched with a fixed maximum downstream connection speed of 512k. This was subsequently boosted to an up to 2Mb speed. More recently this was boosted again to an up to speed of 8MB – known as ADSL Max and re-branded as Connect by Sky.

Re: Will a change from connect to sky unlimited increase my broadband speed?

      Ok.

The point I was making though is that an up to 8mb ADSL connection is far more tolerant to line issues than ADSL2 or ADSL2+.

On a very long line any wiring issues should always be looked at.

The OP's line is not a very long line and thus my comments for the purposes of this thread were valid.

Ok, can we now get back to my question. "Apprently it can take 10 days for the speed to increase"?

I am still on under 4mbs this morning.
