Question 21CN PSTN WBC Exchange upgrade 31.3.11

      hi
im a sky connect customer for my sins, over the last 3 weeks the peak times throttling has gotten steadilly worse 20kbps down is truly shocking and they have the cheek to charge for this, the reason ive not jumped ship as yet is that i read on sam knows that my local exchange is to be upgraded to 21CN PSTN WBC in march of next year which i understand is ADSL2+ advertised speed of 24MB down in reality i hear it more likely be 3 x my current speed which is 4mb off peak, can anyone shed any light on this and the fact that my exchange is being upgraded does that mean that sky customers like me will benefit from the upgrade, any info on above greatly appreciated, thanx in advance

Unless it is being upgraded by Sky then you will not gain anything.

If it is BT upgrading it then you will need to switch to them or one of their resellers.

Yes, but to date they have not gone for BT's ADSL2+ connection, only ADSLMax.

Hi you never know Sky have been upgrading exchanges I have seen some of the upgrades with only 2,500 residential premises. Your exchange has over 6,300 residential premises. I would look at SamKnows - Telephone Exchange Search for any information.

21CN PSTN WBC Exchange upgrade 31.3.11

I had a look at the BT Openreach website and it says
that they are upgrading all echanges to the new WLR Standard 3
and withdrawing all other previous versions in June 2011

      Take a look here

      Removed dead URL

It should mean better service for the companies
that rely on BT Openreach's Network and hopefully for us,
also BT Fibre Optic Broadband product BT Infinity should be rolling out
to all mentioned areas between now and the 31 March 2011,
as well as more and more exchanges being enabled
      between April 2011 and 31 December 2015,
      as BT has previously announced

Other areas that are being enabled
on the Second Wave of Exchanges
      are Cambridge, Reading and Tauton

      Take a look here http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/prod...fttc/fttc.do#3

Hi the problem with the connect package is there is not enough bandwidth for all the connect Customers hence the Traffic Management which Throttles connect Customers. Your link shows bad request. So cannot view.

Re: 21CN PSTN WBC Exchange upgrade 31.3.11

finally bit the bullet and told sky connect to shove it, my years contract ended and they began charging me 17 pm instead of the 10 i had been paying, no danger was i paying 17 pm for speeds of 100 kbps in the evening, so went with talk talk as u can see above they are only 1 of 2 isp who is unbundled @ my local exchange, sky connect has been a total nightmare from start to finish , surely talk talk essentials cant be any worse any way i get a 30 day cooling off period so if its not up to par then i can cancell with no penaltys and its only 7 pm.
