However on setting it up on the pc and checking it was working on the pc i then put it into the sky+ box and the network is coming up as follows:
local connection FAIL
Service connection FAIL
IP Address 0.0.0.0
DHCP OFF
what am i doing wrong or what can I do to make it work

Re: Sky Anytime Plus - Wifi Bridge Help
Perhaps I need to plug the wifi bridge to the router before the sky box?

Re: Another Open Media Wifi bridge question
To the best of my knowledge, you should connect the media bridge to your computer first. Use it to connect to your WiFi router (using the enclosed disc/software) then you should be able to connect it to your Sky+ HD STB.
I am not sure where you get the power from, but the USB ports on the Sky+ HD STB are disabled.
Someone commented that they couldn't put in numbers on theirs the other day, if this is an issue, contact Sky by phone and ask for some help, assuming it is the one that they have supplied you.
If you can't get it working, the Netgear does a good one for around £35 or consider a pair of HomePlugs or PowerLine Adapters for around £35.

Re: Another Open Media Wifi bridge question
I have wasted a full day trying to set this up

It was fine on the computer to install, fine connecting to router but when it was connected to the sky box it wont pick it up. Usb ports are working on the box as is the ethernet cable plug.
rang BT and was on for almost 20 mins to some foreign person who had no idea what they were on about, who then told me to ring sky. Spent 30 mins on the first phone call to them with a call centre non uk based which was frustrating more than anything to be told to ring BT back. I then rang BT again and was on about 40 minutes again to be told they cant help and that everything on their side is working properly. Rang back to sky spent 45 mins speaking to a lovely lady who tried lots of things but at the end of the call advised me to call BT again.
I am so scundered now and I dont really think it is worth the hassle.
I have been back an forward all day reading through pages and pages of articles online and on forums including this one to try anything possible to make it work to no avail.
Am at my wits end now and it is probably something really really simple

Re: Another Open Media Wifi bridge question
Do you have an alternative power source for the USB lead? i.e. a Laptop or TV?
Could you connect to that, just for the purpose of testing please.

Re: Another Open Media Wifi bridge question
When it was connected to your computer, were you able to browse the Internet?

The first thing is make sure the wifi bridge connects when its powered up before you plug the network cable in the back of the sky box. The lights on it will show this. I found out I had to add the wifibridge mac AND the sky mac to the router allow list. This stopped the sky box turning off the openmedia wifibridge.
