      Can PS3 be wireless connector?

      Hope this is the right place to ask, I am trying to find out if I can use my PS3 with Ethernet connector to Sky HD Box as the wireless connector. Rather than pay for the Sky wireless connector box. If it can be used, how do I get it to work.

      Any advice much apprieciated

      Re: Can PS3 be wireless connector?

      The wireless on the PS3 can't be bridged to the Sky+ HD box.
      A wifi enabled laptop can be used as a bridge to your Sky+ HD box.

      There are many wireless alternatives to the official Sky wireless connector such as this:
      [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WA701ND-150Mbps-Wireless-Access/dp/B002YETVVE/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1310057004&sr=8-27]TP-Link TL-WA701ND 150Mbps Wireless Lite N Access Point: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories[/ame]

      Way cheaper and does the job.

      Re: Can PS3 be wireless connector?

      I recall another member doing what you are suggesting, but personally I would recommend it.

      For anyone who is playing on-line games with the PS3, Sky's routers do not offer the best WiFi connection.

      What I would suggest would be to consider using a pair of HomePlugs if you can't use a length of Ethernet cable. One end could connect to the Sky router, and the 2nd connecting to a network switch.

      You can then plug in the PS3 & Sky+ HD STB into the switch and each will effectively have a wired connection to the Sky router.

      HomePlugs cost from around 35. 5-Port Switches cost from around 4.

      If you take the route of using the HomePlugs, aim to get a pair that support 100 or 200mbps and consider a pair that have a pass-through socket for the electric if you are short of sockets.

      Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
      Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
