another 30 minute phone call to sky. Amstrad 780's are def not being replaced for other models. Just got to wait for another software upgrade. Could be 10 days, could be 15 days. Could be anytime+ lol

oh dear... I phoned today, first did a diagnostics for some sound/picture problems I'm having with the box (which are getting worse) - was suggested I try using the box with a SCART cable to rule out a problem with the HDMI.... how am I supposed to watch HD with a SCART cable? lol

Anyway, asked about replacing even paying for a better box got put through to sales... was told that if the Amstrad 780's cannot be upgraded a letter would be sent out offering a free replacement, but this is NOT the case right now....

I was told a replacement box would cost 199

But she suggested I should keep checking the Sky website every week for some kind of offer coming up (but didn't specify) hmmm..... wonder if the 1tb box for 50 could happen?

Some people at sky are offering the 1Tb for 49, I've got one on the way, I was just trying to get my 780 replaced with a anytime+ compatible model and got offered a free replacement or a 1Tb for 49.

Yeah they wouldn't give me anything either when I rang customer services but an e-mail to some one higher up the chain got me a much better outcome.

Who did you email ? I emailed customer service and they basicly said tough and gave me the number for cancelations.

Not good considering, been with them for 3 years at 100.00 a month inc calls, but have the max pack

i have been with sky for 3 and a half years. 18 months ago had free hd box if took movies for a year. also had multiroom since then too. Pace sky+ as second box. 199 plus any install to even replace that with a new hd box. Might get second hand amstrad 890 and swap it myself

I think I'll wait a couple of weeks and see if there's any change/update to the situation - then will buy a box off eBay... I'm also having faults with my box since the initial software upgrade earlier this year - but have had the SkyHD box for 2 years now so Sky want to charge me for an engineer

Its a bit unfair though, even if it is out of warranty, if we have to pay for replacement boxes due to a fault Sky themselves have caused.

I can only assume that once we get the final software update for Anytime+, that will solve any problems we're having at the moment. If the box doesn't just give up in the meantime.
