Sky must have been talking to the guy that services my car on how to extort money from customers.

      Annoyed, but not surprised

The Sky 3D channel is a collection of content from all packages including sport (which is actually its biggest selling point). They don't currently have the facility to lock down specific shows on the channel for non-subscribers, only the channel itself. They will be looking to splinter off the 3D channel in the coming months so you may get 2-3 channels instead of 1. However Sky have never been anything but clear and upfront regarding the requirements of the 3D channel.

      Totally agree with you.
They need to have 3 dedicated 3D channels for peoples different subscriptions.
      Entertainment, movies and sport.
The fact that you have to have the full Sky package to access Sky 3D, is in my opinion one of the things holding back the adoption of 3D TV's.
It costs more to produce 3D content, so limiting they way to access 3D content is a backwards step, when they could be trying to corner the market in this area, by making it available to as many Sky customers as possible.

      Re: Seriously, sport as well?

Just received an email from Sky offering free 3D until 20th Aug. Don't have a 3D TV here and I have no interest in 3D what so ever anyway.

I do think Sky would be better though just offering the 3D channel as a paid add-on to any other TV package though. It is a bit off having to be on the top TV package just to get 1 extra channel.

Well done BBC. I'm thinking of booking some tickets for the national media museum in Bradford near where I live.
They have got their hands on a massive, super hi-vision tv, and are showing the Olympics in conjunction with the BBC.
It's supposed to give a 3D illusion, because the screens 16 times the definition of a standard HD TV.
      Should be cool

ahhh the other new thread makes me look quite the fool :-)

Actually really pleased they've done that for the games. Unfortunately the ordering of said 3d tv today has been a nightmare. Bank thought the transaction was dodgy. I wrote down the details of my wifes card used it to buy the TV. there was a issue as it was a large amount. this has now resulted in my wife being stuck in cardiff not being able to pay for her shopping and me about to close my account with the thieving scum that are the halifax. Apart from that its been a pretty good day
