Feedback for Sky - New FW for V1 Router

Those who are using the new FW for the V1 Router, could you please add any issues that you are having with it.

No need for posts about how good it is, genuine problems listed would be great.

If you have 2 Xbox 360's like i do then if you have UPnP on both xbox's do not have a Open NAT i think as i heard someone else complain about this.

Post Re: Feedback for Sky - New FW for V1 Router

Thx Newsreader for such thread I have noticed yesterday that my router has been upgraded to 1.03.87...

So far, the good points are:

1) Router is syncing at 6880kbps instead of the usual 5660kbps. For my phone line length (as the crow flies) this is supposed to be the limit...so I suppose the possible gain is much higher.
Upstream sync is still the same - 768kbps. Though, I am not dissappointed at all

2) Steadily clings to the signal in the evening at a 3.4db noise margin. Compared with old firmware, the connection would come to halt at 5-6db at a lower sync speed...

On the dark side:
1) I cannot recall seeing Firefox and IE "Page cannot be displayed" window as often as since the upgrade...steady 20% chance

2) When I am adjusting the wireless settings or polling the "Attached devices", it seems as if the router is somewhere in Tokyo...response from router is delayed by as much as 30s-1min.

Overall, it seems like it is early yet to draw any conclusions. The problem may be with Sky's DNS servers, or someone's escaped hamster gnawing on the BT cable

Re: Feedback for Sky - New FW for V1 Router

Upgraded manually this morning though it is too early to say if things are really any better.

UPnP seems to work ok now. Fired up Azureus this evening and it's successfully opened up the ports to my PC.

I've not been affected much by the SNR dropping as I've fixed at 10db SNR and capped to ~2.5mb for sometime (long line + aluminium @ 62db Att that never sync'd higher than ~2.8mb before capped).

Don't use the Netgear for wireless (have a seperate 3Com wireless access point) so have never turned it on.

All appears ok though for now.

Re: Feedback for Sky - New FW for V1 Router

I'm syncing at 8191kbps with the new firmware, it was only 8190 with the old!
I've noticed that my noise margin has typically dropped by a couple of db, typically it was around 10 db during the day, and its now around 8db, its perfectly stable, mind you it always was. Well apart from at 9:00am this morning when the internet connection went down for around a minute.
If I reboot it comes back with a NM around 1 db better.

Angry New Firmware causing router to reset!!!

Now i've been lucky and had a pretty easy ride with Sky BB yet this latest firmware is gonna see the router taking a flying lesson out the window!
Since the update, the router refuses to stay connected for more than 15 minutes (continually rebooting itself), my ping has shot through the roof & the connection speed has dropped!
Tested with my spare router & that's fine.. holds the connection & everything
is singing & dancing how it used to be. Plug the sky one back in & problems galore!!

Whoever wrote the upgrade needs a heft kick up the rear (along with the QA department) for not testing it out fully.

My spare router is now on standby & if it continues to keep bombing out, then i'm using that. S*rew the T&C.. they can't supply equipment which is capable of doing its job, i'm using my own

**rant off**

Think i need a few drinks to calm down!! rofl
