Netgear Router - NAT-PMP and UPnP
Hi,
I am currently having issues with the NAT-PMP and UPnP not being enabled. I have entered the router and found UPnP at the bottom of the Advanced section; I cannot however find where to enable NAT-PMP. Could someone please put me out of misery and tell me where it is? Thanks for your time.
Regards,
TA

Re: Netgear Router - NAT-PMP and UPnP
What are you trying to do? Isn't NAT PMP the alternate protocol to UPnP, used by Apple devices. You will not find it on a Sky router or any other router not made by Apple I think.

Re: Netgear Router - NAT-PMP and UPnP
I see that now, I just read it a moment ago on another forum. I am trying to get Utorrent to work and am told that I have to forward a port on my router. The message I receive on Utorrent is, "Port is not open (you are still able download)" Yet I am unable to.
I went into the router and selected services under the security column; then I setup a new service called 'Utor' and made that TCP/UDP and entered my Utorrent port number in both 'start port' and 'finish port'.
The next step was to go into firewall rules under the security heading. In here I added Utor and set it to ALWAYS allow and input my LAN IP.
Still not working, I am all out of ideas.

Re: Netgear Router - NAT-PMP and UPnP
You don't need to open any ports with uTorrent, provided that in the Options, Preferences, Connections you make sure that UPnP is ticked and Add firewall exception is ticked. You can leave the port as default or use a Random Port.
It may be your PC firewall which is causing the problem. Are you using the latest version of uTorrent, 3.1.3?

Re: Netgear Router - NAT-PMP and UPnP
I tried that, but no success.
I have tried versions 2.2, 2.4 (my preferred iteration) and 3.1. Version 3 of Utorrent is an aberration of note and I will never return to it again.
No matter what I have tried it has failed to work. I see that many people are having this problem and the solution has been in most instance to forward a port manually. Windows Firewall (Win7) has Utorrent accepted, Comodo has it accepted, so what else can I do? Perhaps you could help me open a port manually? I tried to create an account on Utorrent but none of my emails are accepted and looking through the range of answers they appear to be useless anyway.

Re: Netgear Router - NAT-PMP and UPnP
Try the free version of Simpleportforwarding, it is very easy to use. I never open ports manually now. Simple Port Forwarding | Simple Port Forwarding
Before trying it, reset your router by pushing a pin into the reset hole on the rear and hold it there for 10 seconds. This will return it to default so any passwords you have changed will have to be re-entered.
