New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
Got my Sky Unlimited connected on Monday evening.
Sky say between 10-20mb, i used to live down the road and got a steady 12mb
My line stats are:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2048 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 30.0 db 18.0 db
Noise Margin 29.1 db 13.0 db
Sagem router.
I noticed i have dropped down from the introductory 4mb to 2mb in the first 2 days of this DLM rubbish.
Judging by those stast what speed am i likely to settle at?
No im not in my master socket im in an slave socket running off the master due to no power sockets remotely close to the master!
Cheers

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
It is hard to see why you have dropped. Have you checked everything connected to the phone line, including sky box is properly filtered, ie, filter into the socket first, then extensions phones sky box etc.
You should be good for 14-16Mb.

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
i have filter from slave socket with RJ-11 cable running to the router about 20cm away.
I havnt got the sky box plugged into the phone line yet.
Nothing plugged into master socket and no other phone sockets in house.
I did have to power off the routet last night in order to move a few things about as we have just moved in but it had already dropped down to 2mb when i checked the line stats for the first time yesterday morning and the router had only been on for roughly 8 hours as i turned it on late Mon evening!

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
That and use a power extension lead temporarily to get stats from the main socket.

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
Having had another look, your upstream sync/margin looks a bit suspect, it would be in your own interest to get the stats from the Test socket.
Unfortunately we are all a bit prone to concentrating on the download and missing the upload, which is just as important for the stability of your line.

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
what would good upstream figures be?
It is logistically impossible for me to test in master socket as the nearest plug is in th eliving room and having trailing wires through the living room and accross the front door is not safe with children around! :-(

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
You would only need to plug into the Test socket for a few minutes, just long enough to take the stats.
You should get an upload of 9-1100kbps, but it does not look like you are going to get that.

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
is it ok to unplug the router during this DLM process?
it wont see if as a disconnection and mark the line down?
forgot to say the router is plugged into a surge protected lead, does this make any difference?

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
You should be ok with the odd disconnection, just don't do repeated ones.

Re: New connection - Line stats - Expected speed
It should actually improve it if it is a good quality one that cleans up the current.forgot to say the router is plugged into a surge protected lead, does this make any difference?
