My Speeds have dropped...

Hi,

Went with sky around a year ago, had a few troubles but got them all sorted about 8 months ago.

Was happy until they started dropping our speeds which turned out to be errors on our line. After looking into this I found it was the internal wiring inside the house that was to blame so laid some new cable, phoned Sky, got put back to 16mb and all was well again.

Recently I have noticed that we don't seem to be getting the full 16mb again and I put this down to other people downloading etc but when I just checked the sync speed it's down to:

Downstream Rate: 7609 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 796 Kbps

Now I know that this isn't right as I was getting 16Mb fine and even IF there are some errors then 12-14Mb would still be fine.

My stats are here (excuse the fact that I haven't been up long as I just reset it to see if that would help)

adslctl: ADSL driver and PHY status

The only thing that I can see different from back-along is that my attenuation has gone up to 25.5 from 22~ and SNR has gone up to 11.6 from 7~

Just wondering but could I be being capped? I don't think anyone in the house has gone crazy with the downloads...

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers, Doug.

Re: My Speeds have dropped...

It is supposed to start in October, is it not possible that it has started early? The OP does say his problem started recently, but DLM has been off for some weeks now.
He should phone Sky and go through the pain of trouble-shooting a slow connection, it is the only way he will find out for sure.

Re: My Speeds have dropped...

If it has started early then we have not been told.

It is the busy spell now though to call them, Could try the kana form, on the sticky below.

Re: My Speeds have dropped...

if you look closer you will see that your max sync rate has dropped

Max(Kbps): 10248 896
Rate (Kbps): 7609 796

something has happened on your circuit to cause an issue

Re: My Speeds have dropped...

Hi guys/gals

Cheers for all your replies!

Just a couple of questions....

First is... DLM???

Second is about my circuit? Is this my line? DSLAM?

I've got more stats for you, now that it has been up longer should give a better indication that my line isn't perfect but is pretty good.

I have only noticed it when downloading from really fast sites that I normally got 1MB+ from, then done a speedtest and it was saying 8Mb. This could have been like this for weeks unfortunately

If anyone can shed anymore light on this would be most appreciated.

Will be phoning sky sometime tomorrow hopefully.

Cheers again, Doug.
