Re: expecting faster speed

You are not going to see much if any difference between the Test socket and a filtered faceplate. It looks like there is a fault on your external line. Plug in to the Test socket with a corded phone only and do a quiet line test. Dial 17070 option 2 and listen. It should be almost dead quiet, no snaps crackes or pops. If there is noise phone your phone rental provider and report you have noise on your voice line. Don't mention broadband or they will do nothing.

If you can't hear any noise, there is not a lot you can do, unless you want to tell your provider that there is noise there anyway. If you do this be careful you don't get hit with a bill.

Either way, you would be better of on Mid, if you don't need the unlimited download.

Re: expecting faster speed

hi to follow up, sky wont do anything and bt wont either say no problem with line.so yesterday checked with my neighbours who've just had sky installed but got the free broadband

There stats are showing up attenuation 34db with a noise margin of 29db this is how mine used to be before then there was a downtime at exchange and it never recovered over 2 years ago.
how can i get bt to resolve this as its definately a line issue or maybe exchange issue?
