uncapped. request for current stats to be checked.

Hi everyone as you may well know i was recently having alot of trouble getting uncapped by sky. I have now been uncapped to 8096 kbps download and 416 upload as i am on the mid package.

I am getting a pretty good speed and have had no disconnections or anything so far but would like to have an expert look at my stats to see what kind of errors i may be getting on the line.

Its not that my connection is being disrupted but i would rather not have the problems for example if i were to move to ADSL2+ then might have problems with this amount of errors. Any advice/help appreciated.

thanks for info. I was just saying for ADSL2+ if i was ever to move onto max package. I think i could then probbably get about 12mb. What do you think?

Yes you might get a shade under 12meg but whether it would be stable is another issue.

Your line is generating a low level of errors and you can be confident that your high noise margin of 11.1 is helping to keep these low. Uncapped your noise margin would be ~7db and your errors would be much higher.

Is there any particular reason wy the noise margin drops at evening and late at night. In daytime my noise margin is normally between 10 and 11 but evening at night it can go down to 8.3 Do either of you guys know the reason for this? Thanks.

Re: uncapped. request for current stats to be checked.

As I'm sure you know, noise margin is related to line noise. If line noise goes up then the margin goes down and vice versa.

ADSL uses ordinary telephone wires which are just long lengths of metal. Long lengths of metal act as very good receptors of electromagnetic signals - think of it as an aerial. Unwanted electronic signals on an ADSL line are by definition, noise. The sun and its direct and indirect effects generates a lot of electromagnetic radiation. Atmospheric effects also come into play and dusk/early evening are periods of high noise.

Additionally, there is a phenomenon called crosstalk. This is when signals in one wire cross over and contaminate those in another wire. The more signal "intensity" the more crosstalk. Early evening is a time of heavy ADSL use so all those other people whose phone lines run alongside yours, using ADSL will have an effect too.

Yes, anything higher than 80% of your sync speed is good - yours is ~85%.

Argh!!! Been having some unexpected problems lately. Errors have shot up in the statistics and noise margin has also begun to get really low. Ive also had a couple of disconnections i don't understand this. These are the latest figures. I don't understand the deterioration in the line.
