Re: Sky router stats (speed, noise, attenuation) explained
Email received from Sky
Thank you for contacting Sky Broadband Technical Support.
I have tried to run some tests on your connection this evening but I have been unable to do so as it appears that your router is switched off. I would be grateful if you could leave it connected and turned on, then reply to this email stating you have done so and I will be able to look into this matter further for you.
There does appear to have been some work done on your broadband connection within the first few months of your contract however we are unable to see exactly what at this point in time. Once we have established that we can raise your speed to nearer the limits if the Max package we will then look into refunding you for the service you were paying for but not receiving.

Did you manage to get through to the CST? I would have thought they could have fixed this in minutes. Maybe one of the Skybods on the forum will have an idea what is going on.

Re: Sky router stats (speed, noise, attenuation) explained
whats CST? phoned sky twice after nearly half an hour on hold they just had me messing about with the filters and the master socket which made no difference to the speed. got annoyed so decided to email and atleast they have acknowledged a problem with the reply i got. also looks like i could be in for a refund for the service i have paid for for almost a year and not recieved.

CST are the higher support section, who have a better idea of what they are doing. There are exceptions, but Tier 1 who take the initial call, are not highly trained and just follow a script. I am fairly sure you have been put on Base right at the start and T1 just do not understand what has happened.

Re: Sky router stats (speed, noise, attenuation) explained
on adsl2+ (prob from DLM) and capped heavily...you should get about 3-4Mbps...
give Sky a bell and hopefully CST'll sort it out...

Re: Sky router stats (speed, noise, attenuation) explained
You are certainly not getting what you are paying for. The best thing you could do is read the stickies in this part of the forum -
Cabling and faceplate help
do what is suggested there, then post a request for help in the Broadband help section. You will not get 6 Mb, but 4 may not be out of reach.
Just saw IANTE post, with a noise margin of 12, surely that is not heavily capped. Might get another 1.5Mb but that is all. The wiring needs some work before phoning Sky.
